"In the mid-nineties, afer a long break from art-making, I turned to painting. This medium allowed me to return to an investigation of the outdoors from a different perspective. Over several years, my practice began a transformation from a general observation of my surroundings, to an engagment with a specific aesthetic interest, the often chaotic and tangled world of forests fields and underbrush. Seeing an immense range of colour and light within these spaces, I began to organize the mosaic of the branches, leaves and sunlight into a meaningful interpretation of what I observe."
